What makes Matt …
What makes Matt great is that he is not only a great thinker but a great host. He’s charismatic, and very, very good at managing his speaking time with that of the callers. There are plenty of TV hosts at the major networks who are absolutely terrible at that. He could easily do a nationally syndicated show–in fact I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that he will.

How could anyone base their life on any small stack of books or anything else without questioning every major conclusion?

The guy argues his point in a cunning way, but he’s wrong. Text alone should not ever be sufficient evidence for that text being true. It doesn’t matter that the Koran doesn’t talk about miracles, it make assertions, and if text is sufficient even if that text is internally consistent (like most good novels), it doens’t imply that the text is true. In a 1000 years time, you could have the same evidence for Harry Potter, but it doesn’t change the fact that Harry Potter is untrue.

Kabane is just practicing debating, he’s not interested in listening or acknowledging any points or responding to any answers. It’s tough to debate a fanatic like this, so kudos to Matt, because it’s so easy for him to make a soundbite attack which takes a whole load of time for Matt to address.

i would have to disagree that matt dillahunty is a more skilled debater than say, hitchens. i do agree however that he is just as educated on the topic of religion as dawkins, dennett, harris, and hitchens. i would still love to see dillahunty debate on the road.

@petkragh He’s definitely better than Dawkins, Dennett and Harris, but nobody tops the Hitch. Of course Hitch and Dillahunty both have radically different approaches to discounting religion, so a comparison can’t really be made.
