Why do you atheists constantly attack the FSM without studying the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster,
and you don’t even watch Chuck Norris’s movies so why do you attack him
I’ve read the Gospel of the FSM… it’s on my nightstand right now.
Chuck Norris doesn’t exist… so that’s irrelevant.

GBS: The Gospel According to John Chapter 18
Godless Bible Study
John Chapter 18
A response to a challenge by a rapture-believing Christian that I read one chapter of John a day for 21 days.
Should make for some interesting video, don’t you think?
Well, probably not. But I’m going to do it anyway.

WHY NOT PREACH THE TRUE GOSPEL OF CHRIST?
Greetings from the Holy Ghost…
Thanking you so much for the adds and for wonderful answers… I have the best BIBLE "King James Version" KJV and keep on reading it from time to time knowing all the meaning word for word, in literal, symbolical, parabolic ways of interpretations there was be… but many Bible teachers and other preachers talked and teach more on the Gospel about Jesus Christ… why not preach the Gospel of Christ? Also, study the facts and learning the hidden mysteries of the Holy Bible thru SCIENCE or in a Scientific way of understanding and explanations… I’m trying to finish the book written by a Holy Spirit "THE LIMARAYAN CATECHISM" About the religious worship and beliefs of the lost (ancient) civilization 131,000 B.C. And soon to finish the Third (3RD) Book of Life "CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE HOLY KIND" The Holy Book of Knowledge. Please help me GOD.
GOD SPEED
To do that you would have to read the Gnostic Gospels, the only gospels not corrupted by a greedy church.
I have a really good fundie quote for this one:
"The KJV because it is most accurate. There was a study done on all the versions, and the KJV has the least amount of syllables which relates to why the KJV is most accurate." – a really dumb fundie who needs words with less syllables.
LMAO!

what would be a good study on the book of colossians designed for a small group?
I’m part of a small group that gathers together weekly at our church hall and we had been doing a DVD study on the gospel of John. (we’d watch some of the dvd and then stop and discuss). We want to move on to doing a Bible Study instead of watching a video and I was thinking of the book of Colossians because we have some ‘new’ Christians in our group and Colossians does address false teachings that a new Christian could get caught up in. The problem I’m having is that out of all the courses I’ve seen online, I can’t seem to find a really good one that is meant for the small group setting with readings followed by group discussion questions. The one’s I have seen seemed to be more geared towards personal study. Have any of you done or know of a study on Colossians that is good for a small group of 7-8 people and is either free or inexpensive?
thanks.
The most important thing you can learn about the Book of Colossians is who it was written to and why. And the verse most commonly misunderstood is the one where Paul is encouraging his converts from paganism to continue to keep the Sabbaths, Festivals, dietary laws, and how Paul taught them to figure out the calender (new moons). This is incredibly misunderstood.

Have you studied the lost gospels(eg the Gospel of Thomas)What do you think?Do they represent another take on ?
Christianity? Why or why not?
"Studied" would be an exaggeration in my case. I read it thoroughly a few times and did a little bit of exegetical research. But frankly, it is just not all that interesting — at least in the entire spectrum of miscellaneous "gospel" texts from that time. (As you are probably aware, there are LOTS of "alternative" Jesus-related texts that never caught on to where they were widely copied through the centuries and emphasized by Christians.)
Keep in mind also that it was very common in ancient times for people to write their own ideas and then attribute them to a famous person. So just because a text is a "Gospel of ______" doesn’t mean that the title identifies the author.
As far as impacting the Christian faith, per se, no. Nothing earthshaking jumped out at me. And I haven’t had reason to study it in years.
Actually, I personally feel that some of the various ancient texts commonly published as "the Pseudepigrapha" are much more interesting (or bizarre?!) So I thought they were more fun to read.

8. The Gospel of Thomas
Introduction to New Testament (RLST 152)
We have known of the existence of the Gospel of Thomas from ancient writers, but it was only after the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Codices that the actual text became available. The Gospel of Thomas is basically a collection of sayings, or logia, that sometimes seem similar, perhaps more primitive than sayings found in the canonical Gospels. Sometimes, however, the sayings seem better explained as reflecting a “Gnostic” understanding of the world. This involves a rejection of the material world and a desire for gnosis, a secret knowledge, in order to escape the world and return to the divine being.
