Skeptic Bible Study: The Body of Yahweh?
http://www.godvsthebible.com
A response to KalSolar’s musings about how it’s possible that Christ could be “at the right hand” of an omnipresent being. The answer is simple: the biblical god isn’t omnipresent. The OT clearly depicts a being that walks, talks, plays hide-and-seek with Adam, wrestles with Jacob, drops by Abraham’s for lunch and makes speeches to Judea.
I also had a bit of fun cutting and pasting some images to underscore how ridiculous these events of the Bible really are.

@Talazorn So what was the Flood about? Was that not God’s failed attempt to stop evil? Was the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah not God intervening in something he didn’t like? You can’t have it both ways.

Correction:
1) Christians are NOT being as literal with the Bible as they out to be.
Also I wanted to add that while I love myths/mythology, I think over time humans have developed betters ways to understand God (philosophy and science).

I guess there are three answers you can give to the anthropomorphic Yahweh:
1) Christians are being as literal about the Bible as they ought to be.
2) It is a mythological explanation of God, but then why is the Bible’s myths better than other myths?
3) Yahweh was culturally similar to other national gods at the time and is no more credible than any other gods that were rejected.
This does not cover …
This does not cover them all, but the overall idea it does however. I am not sure how else the Israelites would descibe God and the situations they were in with God if not doing so as giving him human attributes. Rather than assuming a disconnect, or a contradiction, take all the statements together and you will see that they were using human distinctions to describe that which otherwise could not be. It is done in many other ancient writings and we use the technique today even.

@DeistPaladin @DeistPaladin That is one of the most stupid arguments i have ever heard. God does not allow himself to “stop evil” because that would make humans and their actions completely meaningless, if he just intervened whenever something he didnt like happened. For someone who has read the bible so many times you don’t seem to really get the point, instead you are looking for faults and finding them. Like paranoia.

i will have to contradict you at 6:46 unfortunately sir. There is a distinct vertical-ness to the female genitalia, that most pleasing crevasse. Also, the female genitalia features no big fat pouch to offset the appearance both upwards and downwards…
